Lively and lightweight, Time’s Izon is in tune with the French brand’s racing heritage. It’s classic lines and traditional geometry are also on point.
Time’s Quickset headset and the seatmast. You need a pin spanner to tighten or loosen bearing pre-load, and the top cap just press-fits in above the stem. The seatmast offers a clean look but few appreciable performance benefits.
On the positive side, the frame’s neutral 72-degree head tube angle that offered balance steering response. To match the head angle, the Izon’s wheelbase is extra-tight at 971 millimeters, which made it feel like a pure race bike.
The curious thing is that, despite the snappy geometry, the carbon construction, and a BB30 bottom bracket, Time’s bottom bracket assembly was nearly at the bottom of our lab testing with an .89-millimeter deflection figure. That’s a big contrast with the stiff head tube that only deflected .43 millimeters, stiffer than a Trek Madone.
