Description
For a long time the prevailing wisdom has been unless your cleat position is absolutely dialed in, a little float is highly recommended. We are even seeing more and more pro peloton riders, who have unlimited access to the best fitters in the world, opting to go with float. Swiss cycling components company Edco feels traditional float helps, but alone it still forces your legs in an unnatural position throughout the pedal stroke.
Edco, who had been manufacturing and designing bicycle components for over 100 years, has released its 3ax pedal to solve this problem. In addition to 7° of traditional float (right to left heel movement) the pedals add 4° “sway” which allows the foot to rock side to side on the pedal. This sway takes the foot off of the static plane created by a standard pedal resulting in a spherical motion similar to a ball and socket joint. The whole idea is to get the feet, knee and hip aligned better through the entire pedal stroke.
The aluminum bodied pedals weigh 390 grams per pair. The spindles are made from a proprietary alloy and are 54mm in length. Stack height is 12.5mm and the system uses standard 3-bolt cleat mounting. Keo compatible cleats and hardware are included. Release tension is adjustable.
Edco 3ax pedals are produced in the Netherlands. We found a set in our warehouse.
